Print is alive and well on the Sunshine Coast

It was 12 years ago when My Weekly Preview launched as an independent and locally owned business, turning print media on its head and changing the way the Sunshine Coast community could access and read local stories.

Now, My Weekly Preview is set to change the local news scene again, proving print media is not dead but thriving by offering the entire region more access to local news. The company is also boosting jobs, employing more local people, and continuing to support local business and to champion local issues.

Editor Candice Holznagel says the company is investing heavily to bring grassroots journalism to localised communities. “We are simply continuing to do what we do well and increasing our commitment to printing relevant, local news,” she says.

“We’ve built an experienced team and will launch a new look, improved weekly magazine later this month to cater for the growing demand. Most importantly, we will continue to deliver local news, free.”

Ms Holznagel says the objective is to increase the volume of community-driven content as well as the magazine’s food, fashion, lifestyle and property offerings. The magazine will also include a letters to the editor section to give readers a chance to share their thoughts on topics of public interest.

“Print media is not dead; it is changing and adapting as it should, to meet readers’ needs.

“Our much-loved high-quality, colourful design that readers have come to know will remain.“My Weekly Preview will retain all of the content readers have come to love, as we expand to comprehensively include more local news.

“It’s a brand new day for the Sunshine Coast and the relaunch of My Weekly Preview will be a boon for local businesses to be able to really target and speak to audiences in their immediate local communities, boosting our region’s economy, jobs and interest in good news and exciting projects our region has to share.”

Paul Angell, Principal of First National Coastal, welcomed the news. "Tourists and locals alike love to grab a copy from our office, and catch up on local news, events, and the local property market, over a coffee at a nearby cafe in Mooloolaba.

"We have been a long time supporter and advertiser of this fantastic publication, and with the cancellation of the Sunshine Coast Daily print newspaper, My Weekly Preview will be the primary source of real estate listings in print form on the Sunshine Coast."
