$30 Million Bli Bli Retail Village set to open next month

Mon 29 April | Sunshine Coast Council

The Bli Bli Village Town Centre will soon become the central hub of one of the most vibrant and rapidly growing communities on the Sunshine Coast.

The Bli Bli Village, on the corner of Bli Bli Road and David Low Way, is an exciting new $30 million development brought to the Bli Bli community by the White’s Commercial Property Group.

Sunshine Coast Council Chief Executive Officer Michael Whittaker said the complex would revitalise the town centre and provide a new range of services for the community.

The multi-level commercial precinct will offer a mix of retail shops, restaurants, cafes and professional suites.

The Village will also include a Health and Wellbeing centre, offering a range of medical and wellness services including a doctor’s surgery, a dentist, pathology, remedial massage, gym and more.

Locals and tourists will be able to enjoy a fully licensed tavern complete with gaming facilities and a drive-through bottle shop.

The Town Centre will also feature newly built one and two-bedroom Casuarina Condo’s.

These modern and stylish units will form the heart of the Town Centre. They are the perfect option for new home buyers, and for investors that want to become part of booming Bli Bli.

A basement level car park will provide parking for close to 200 vehicles. With ample parking and a diverse range of services, the Bli Bli Village will provide a town centre for a quickly expanding area.

Developer Michael White said the development would further enhance the existing services available in Bli Bli.

“The development of Bli Bli Village Centre will deliver important services to the growing Bli Bli community and builds on the success of the River Markets Shopping Village,” Mr White said.

The development will take place over more than 8000sq m and will be completed in three stages:
Stage 1, in the centre of the site, will be the construction of the health and wellbeing centre that consists of 584sq m gross floor area (GFA) of office, 382sq m GFA of health care services, 277sq m GFA of indoor sport and recreation (a gym) and 636sq m GFA of retail.
Stage 2 will feature 968sq m GFA of office space, 1001sq m GFA health care services and 725sq m GFA of retail.
Stage 3 will constitute the Bli Bli Tavern, 20 accommodation units with ancillary bottle shop.

Mr Whittaker said council had negotiated an infrastructure agreement with the developer which would benefit the local community.

“Council has worked closely with the developer and approval was granted in line with an infrastructure agreement that will result in the developer investing $350,000 toward the cost of undergrounding existing powerlines,” Mr Whittaker said.

“The development will also include upgraded streetscaping along David Low Way and Bli Bli Road.”

The project follows the $15 million refurbishment of the successful Bli Bli Village – Rivermarkets, located across from the new Bli Bli Village –Town Centre.

This Rivermarkets refurbishment revitalised the existing shopping precinct and expanded on the infrastructure and services available to the Bli Bli community. Rivermarkets is now fully leased with 15 tenants including a pharmacy, post office, real estate, bottle shop and butchery.

The Bli Bli Village – Town Centre development is now perfectly positioned to capitalise on Rivermarket’s success.

Details of the development are publicly available on council’s PD Online system using application number: MCU15/0168
